Each year, the Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) receives numerous inquiries from designers, infection preventionists, and other clinical staff looking for information about where patient procedures can and cannot be performed in hospitals and outpatient facilities. This guidance on applying the FGI Guidelines to spaces where invasive vs. noninvasive patient care is delivered was prepared to help Guidelines users create the physical environment needed for the procedures a health care organization plans to provide.
