Applying the FGI Guidelines to Spaces Where Invasive vs. Noninvasive Patient Care is Delivered
Each year, the Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) receives numerous inquiries from designers, infection preventionists, and other clinical staff looking for guidance on where patient procedures can and cannot be performed in hospitals and outpatient facilities.
Although these determinations must be made by the health care organization, FGI offers some guidance on applying the Guidelines to spaces where invasive vs. non-invasive patient care is delivered. This information was prepared to help Guidelines users create the physical environment needed to support the procedures a health care organization plans to provide.
